A team from the Civil and Environmental Engineering department ranked 6th out of 33 teams participating in the 2016 Undergraduate Seismic Design Competition, which was held in conjunction with the 2016 EERI Annual Meeting in San Francisco, California from April 5th to April 8th. This is the highest the Department has placed at the annual competition. The team's structure was one of fifteen entries to survive all three ground motions; the structure was also ranked in the top 9 design proposals.
The team was made up of CEE undergraduates Zachary Bartula, Tracy Donoghue, Michael Morano, and Daniel McLoughney (as pictured above, left to right). Graduate students Mirna Mendoza and Stephanie Castine also accompanied the group to San Francisco.
