Abstract | A Field Theory of traffic ow was formulated, based on which a special case, called Longitudinal Control Model, was proposed in Part I. The objective of this paper is to evaluate the model. A set of reasonable criteria was employed in the assessment including: empirical validity, mathematical elegance, and physical soundness. Both numerical and empirical evidences are presented in support of the model. In addition, a cross-comparison, called benchmarking, was conducted to show the performance of the model relative to some existing traffic ow models. |
