Abstract

Transit signal priority (TSP) is an effective way of reducing transit delay and enhancing travel time reliability for transit vehicles. However, such strategies can interrupt coordination for cars on signalized arterials. The objective of this study is to assess the performance of CAPACITEL [8] for optimizing offsets, cycle lengths, and green splits when TSP strategies are applied. Results show improvements between 5 and 23 % in less person delay compared to TRANSYT15.
