A model based on a simplified conceptual reaction mechanism that predicts chlorine decay and the formation of THMs and HAAs was developed and calibrated. The form of the model is a system of differential equations (solved numerically). The model was calibrated using a low SUVA, low alkalinity, low bromide water. Excellent results were obtained when the model was tested using a water similar to the calibration water.
